60 activists, including former Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell MP, protested outside the Pakistani High Commission in London to demand the release of Ehsan Ali and other imprisoned members of the Awami Action Committee.

On 4 May 1926, London was paralysed. For nine days, two million workers had brought the capital to a standstill, and shown how London might be organised differently. The TUC’s decision to end the strike was met with righteous fury.

In London, as in the rest of the country, the local elections have been a bloodbath for Starmer’s Labour. The Green Party, the main beneficiaries of Labour’s demise, are now going to be seriously put to the test.
