More and more people – particularly amongst the youth – are looking towards communism for a solution. And the British state is taking notice!
On 3 February, police officers detained three members of the International Marxist Tendency (IMT) in London, leading to the arrest of one IMT member for several hours.
Their ‘crime’? Carrying a placard reading ‘Intifada ‘til Victory’ and selling The Communist newspaper, carrying the slogan ‘Fight imperialism with intifada!’
This attempt at intimidation and repression by the British state will not cow us. We, the communists, will not back down.
We will continue to proudly call for intifada, come hell or high water. In the face of the blatant lies spewed by the capitalist media, we will continue to tell the truth about this brutal capitalist system – both in the pages of The Communist and on the streets.

A workers’ newspaper
The Communist is a newspaper which aims to provide a genuine voice for the working class.
Our first-grade theoretical material and razor-sharp Marxist analysis is enriched by contributions from you, our readers.
We want to reflect the militant mood brewing in society, with letters detailing the daily injustices of life under capitalism, revealing the rotten conditions that workers face, as well as reports from protests and picket lines.
Under capitalism, our ‘free’ media will always remain a tool of the ruling class; a mouthpiece of the bankers and bosses.
Our comrades have been targeted for selling The Communist – the newspaper that the British state clearly doesn’t want you to read.
The only way to cut across this is by continuing to build our own revolutionary press, and providing a clear class perspective.

Alongside The Communist, we strongly recommend subscribing to our quarterly theoretical magazine – In Defence of Marxism.
Packed with long-read articles on theory, history, reviews, and current events, the IDOM magazine is a must for anyone looking to gain an in-depth understanding of Marxist ideas and their relevance to today.
Issue 44 begins with a special editorial by Rob Sewell for the centenary of Lenin’s death in 1924.
It also includes articles looking at Lenin’s philosophical studies of Hegel; his fight to combat passivity and inaction within the revolutionary movement; his struggle against bureaucracy within the Bolshevik Party; and how this struggle was taken up by Trotsky after his death.
