A confused motion is up for discussion at this week’s TUC Congress, calling for ‘solidarity with Ukraine’. Instead of backing the Tories and their imperialist aims, the labour movement must fight for an internationalist, class-based position.

The Dublin Lockout began 110 years ago, when the bosses joined forces to smash militant trade unionism in Ireland. Socialists today must learn from the inspiring example of James Connolly and Jim Larkin, and build a revolutionary leadership.

The much-hyped Ukrainian counter-offensive is rapidly running out of steam. As demoralisation creeps in, blame and recriminations abound. All the while, workers in Ukraine, Russia, and the West are paying the price for this imperialist carnage.
