2014 marks the 100th anniversary since the beginning of World War One – a turning point in history that marked a qualitative break with the past. The century since then has been an epoch of capitalist decline, market by crises and revolutions, from the Russian Revolution in 1917 to the mass movements of 1968 and the class struggles of the 1970s and 80s in Britain.
Today, workers and youth in Britain and internationally are continuing this century of struggle, with revolutionary movements from Egypt and Turkey, to Greece and Brazil. At the centre of all these movements is the question of: what is the alternative to the current crisis of capitalism and the austerity that flows from this?
We invite all our readers to join us for a weekend of talks by international speakers that will look back on key episodes in the last 100 years of class struggle and the lessons for today
