Fred Weston, editor for marxist.com, discusses the most polarised US election in living memory. Biden’s victory is no cause for celebration for workers and youth. Donald Trump and his supporters are not going away anytime soon.

Joe Biden is on course to become the 46th President of the USA. But while cheers can be heard on Wall St., there is little enthusiasm amongst workers for the new White House occupant. Nor will Trump and his ilk go quietly into the night.

US election night has come and gone, but there are no clear results. Trump has all but declared victory, while Biden has called for patience. The general picture is one of deep polarisation, with bourgeois democracy in an utter mess.
