Recent events in the Atlantic and Mediterranean oceans are a tale of two classes: one, the story of tremendous efforts being made to save five buccaneering billionaires; the other, the tragedy of hundreds of migrants being killed by capitalism.

All the mainstream media has been focussed this week on the deaths of a handful of billionaires exploring the shipwreck of the Titanic. Meanwhile, little attention has been paid to the tragic drowning of hundreds of migrants in the Mediterranean.

There has been much optimism surrounding the election of left-wing governments in Colombia, Chile, Brazil, and other Latin American countries. But already, these are hitting up against barriers. Only revolutionary struggle can offer a way forward.
