After fifteen years of austerity and counting, the phrase ‘broken Britain’ has become graphic and visible in our daily lives.
Living standards are predicted to fall by the end of the decade for the majority of UK households. Unemployment is rising, with job vacancies consistently falling for three years on the trot. Ordinary people are subjected to overcrowded, expensive housing and sky-high household bills. NHS waiting lists remain in their millions.
Against this bleak backdrop, Farage’s Reform UK steps forward, telling us that all of this is down to migrants and refugees; and accusing the most vulnerable layers of being violent criminals and a ‘danger to the community’ to boot.
Whipped up by this divisive demagoguery, protestors have once again targeted hotels accommodating asylum-seekers in recent weeks. Demonstrators have gathered in their hundreds, with demands to “stop the boats”, “protect our kids”, and “put local people first.”
Never one to miss an opportunity, in his latest media blitz, Farage has been loudly proclaiming that ‘broken Britain’ is at the point of “societal collapse” – supposedly buckling under the economic and social pressures imposed by migrants.
The conclusion to all of this, Farage says, is to vote Reform, naturally.
Alarmed by this electoral threat, Starmer’s Labour is aping Reform UK when it comes to scapegoating migrants for the country’s problems.

Since coming to power, Labour has repeatedly boasted about implementing record numbers of deportations of “refused asylum-seekers and overseas criminals”.
Starmer’s government has promised to spend a further £280 million on “border security”. And in January of this year alone, there was a 73 percent rise in Home Office immigration raids and arrests.
Keen to win over a few Reform voters, earlier this year, Home Secretary Yvette Cooper even announced that the government will be releasing ‘league tables’ of which nation’s immigrants commit the most crimes.
The biggest criminals, however, are Starmer and his capitalist cronies. All the difficulties that Farage places at the feet of impoverished refugees and asylum-seekers are, in reality, down to Sir Kid Starver and the billionaires’ system he serves.
It is Starmer who is refusing to scrap the two-child benefit tax; who is cutting winter fuel payments, disability benefits, universal credit, and 10,000 civil service jobs.
It is Blairite Health Secretary Wes Streeting who has the cheek to accuse striking doctors of “harming patients”, as he sells off the NHS piece by piece.

It’s Environment Secretary Steve Reed who is overseeing water company bosses’ pay reaching an all time high – averaging £1.1m a year – while they continue to pump sewage into our waterways.
It is this big business Labour government who cry about needing to find billions in cuts to balance the books, but who are all too happy to spend billions on bombs and bloodshed: sending arms to Ukraine; and facilitating the genocide in Gaza, including training IDF soldiers on British soil.
These are the people really breaking Britain. Starmer and the capitalist establishment are the ones we should be booting out.
So join the revolutionary communists today, to help overthrow all the warmongers and billionaires, and fight for a real – socialist – alternative to the horror and misery of capitalism.
