Communists want to change the world. But we can’t do that as individuals. That’s why we’re founding the Revolutionary Communist Party in May this year, so we can get organised and fight to overthrow capitalism.
We are building in towns and cities across the country – and across the world. And wherever you are, you can help.
The building blocks of our organisation are our branches. It is in these that we educate ourselves in Marxist ideas and methods; and through these that we collectively conduct activity – in movements and struggles; in workplaces, schools, universities, and communities – to fight for these ideas.
Above all, we are always on the lookout for new members: for communist workers and youth who want to get organised, and help us further build up our forces.
Head to communist.red/join to see a full list of all our branches, and for information on how you can join and get involved right away.
If you can’t see a group in your area, then get in touch and help us establish a new branch or local cell!
A cell is made up of the communists in a local area who meet regularly, usually weekly. The goal of the cell is to find and train new communists in the ideas of revolutionary Marxism.
If we want to change the world, we need to understand how it works. All communist meetings must be based on Marxist theory and political education.
But communist meetings aren’t just for discussing, they’re also for planning. Cells need to ask: are there any demonstrations or picket lines that we can bring our ideas to and recruit from? Are there any important issues that we want to hold public meetings about? When and where are we going to put up posters or set up a recruitment stall to meet new communists?
There are literally millions of young people and workers in Britain today who identify as communists. All we have to do is find them. Here are some tips on building a communist group where you are:
- Start by talking about politics with friends, family, colleagues, and classmates. The current crisis has radicalised millions across the world. The chances are many will already agree with you.
- Go wherever radical workers and young people are. Set up recruitment stalls to talk to people on the street about communism. Go to demonstrations and protests with The Communist newspaper. Hold a public meeting. And convince people to help us overthrow capitalism.
- When you meet a communist, ask them to join the party straight away. Give them a bundle of papers to sell and posters to put up. Ask them what they can do to help build the party. Give them a task immediately.
- Educate yourself and others. Have a check out our education hubs at communist.red and marxist.com. These sites provide Marxist analysis and theory in the form of articles, videos, and podcasts. Hold discussions on these topics in your weekly meetings, or in your schools or workplace.
- Above all, be fearless!
We’re revolutionaries. Millions of people are rejecting capitalism and looking for answers. By standing out clearly with a bold revolutionary communist solution, we can attract thousands to our banner and build the RCP that the working class and young people in Britain need.

Help build the RCP: Donate today!
Capitalism is in a profound crisis. Millions of workers and young people are drawing revolutionary conclusions, and are looking to the ideas of communism.
For this reason, we’ve decided to launch a new political party: the Revolutionary Communist Party. But we need your help to make it a huge success.
We have already launched The Communist. We’re also expanding the Wellred bookshop, and running a campaign on the life and ideas of Lenin. And we are aiming to double the size of our organisation by the end of this year, which means we need 20 new full-time staff to support this growth.
With your help and support, we can build the revolutionary party ahead of the titanic battles that our class will face.
We are therefore appealing to our readers and supporters to help us raise £20,000 towards the launch of the RCP. We have already raised £4,100 towards this target.
If you want to fight for a communist future, then we appeal to you, comrade: donate what you can!
Forward to the Revolutionary Communist Party!

Brand new branch in Kingston
One of our comrades in west London recruited a friend who studies at Kingston University in south west London. This new comrade was really excited to get a communist cell set up in this far-flung corner of the capital.
We made a couple of trips down to Kingston to set up a recruitment stall – one time outside of the university and another time in the town centre.
Combined with meeting a young worker and PCS union member who wanted to join the communists at a recent Palestine demonstration, this has given us the numbers to set up a brand new branch of communists in Kingston.
The branch’s first meeting was last week, on the same day as the launch of our new paper. The Kingston branch and The Communist share a birthday!
Growing cell in Livingston
We blitzed the posters and stickers advertising the communists in Edinburgh, and have recruited some great new comrades from it.
One new recruit, from Livingston, just outside Edinburgh, carried on the recruitment campaign with vigour. And now we’re building a communist cell in the town.
The cell recently had a chance encounter with a group of West Lothian Council tradesmen who were demonstrating outside the council building, over a breach of agreement by the council promising to pay them for their work. The tradesmen were enthusiastic to meet us and bought all the papers we had on us.
The following day we went back for the next demonstration. And clearly word had spread, because they greeted us enthusiastically and gave interviews for the paper. We sold another round of papers, and a subscription to The Communist.
The prospects for communists in West Lothian are looking good!
From one branch to four in Cardiff
At the start of 2023 we had just one branch in Wales’ capital city. One year later and we’re up to four.
Over the course of last year, we shouted from the rooftops that we’re the communists in Cardiff; and if you’re a communist too, then the doors are open and you should come and get involved. We put up posters and stickers advertising ourselves all over the city.
We put on a meeting to explain the communist response to the riots in Ely in May last year. And we’ve been putting on meetings, participating in demos, and giving public speeches about the genocide in Palestine.

From this we’ve met dozens of communists in the city and at Cardiff University. We’ve trained them quickly. And we’ve all been getting to work building new cells and branches around the city.
We see no reason we couldn’t go from four to eight branches in Cardiff this year. Onwards and upwards!

Building a school cell in south London
Over the past two months, a group of us have been building a communist cell at our school in south London. We asked around until we found a teacher who was willing to let us use his room for meetings.
Since starting meetings, we’ve noticed that teachers ask us to be careful with resources because they’ve had to buy them out of their own money (one teacher had to buy her own drawers!), so we’ve been working on figuring out where the school budget is actually going.
We had a discussion about the academy system, and all of us now understand why our school is facing problems. We want to organise for real, radical solutions.
We’ve been selling the paper and putting up posters and stickers in the local area.
Some teachers have been happy to see us and have bought papers regularly. But one member of staff emailed saying that handing out communist literature could be a “safeguarding concern”. Not only were we doing that particular activity outside of school, but he also had no explanation for why it was a concern.
Obviously, we won’t be silenced. What we’re doing is too important. We’ll continue to organise around issues at our school. There are definitely more people out there we can get to join us.
