Billionaire press prescribes distortions and lies
Patricia Mosely, Striking resident doctor
In a desperate attempt to remind us she exists, Tory leader Kemi Badenoch has come out with a plan to ban doctors’ right to strike if she were to be elected PM. No surprise from a party that has spent the better part of ten years tearing up workers’ rights.
The attack dogs in the right-wing media have lapped up her poison and spat it out on their pages. The Daily Telegraph has published an article titled: “Kemi is right. We must clip the BMA’s wings”.
🗣️ ‘It is not unreasonable to ban strikes where they would endanger the population. Labour might not agree, but surely Nigel Farage should?’

These billionaire-backed journalists can barely hide their hatred of workers fighting for the NHS behind their fake sympathy for those patients affected by the strikes.
No resident doctor slashed the NHS’ budget, driving down the number of beds and staff, just as no nurse decimated community health services. I’ve lost count of how many patients I have treated in corridors and how many times I’ve apologised for long waits in A&E.
The reactionary press knows very well which side their bread is buttered. They serve the interests of the bosses, bankers and bureaucrats who have built fortunes on the basis of the austerity and privatisation that devastates our NHS.
Their lies about lazy, well-paid doctors indifferent to our patients’ suffering are as transparent as they are pathetic.
Despite these liars’ best efforts, workers can see who is defunding the NHS and who is working hard to prop it up. We strike for the future of the NHS, for the wellbeing of every worker.
I am glad to see The Communist understands and supports us in our struggle. The gutter press exposes its agenda the more it pumps out this slander.
Yet more BBC hypocrisy
Tommaso Verga, Brixton
Last week, the BBC joined three news agencies to denounce the starvation of journalists in Gaza, amid the man-made famine that the Zionist state has imposed on the Palestinians.
“For many months, these independent journalists have been the world’s eyes and ears on the ground in Gaza”, said the statement.
Watching politicians and mainstream media suddenly change their rhetoric on the genocide makes me feel like I’ve truly gone crazy. Can someone please confirm that a few weeks ago they villainized us on the front pages for being against this while they were very much pro-genocide.

In fact, journalists have not only suffered all the dangers faced by the local population, but have also been the targets of a systematic campaign of murder by the Israeli forces, in an attempt to cover up the atrocities committed during this genocide, just like medical workers are targeted to ensure maximum damage and societal collapse.
While the media have reported on this now and again (as little as they can get away with), no mention is made of it in this press release.
However, the article finds the time to say that the Israeli government has described reporting on the famine as “Hamas propaganda”, with no further context given. And the ‘aid stations’ that have been used to allow the IOF to more easily shoot desperate people are described only as “controversial.”
In other words, even as it finally calls out the inhuman conditions faced by their sources on the ground, the BBC continues to show its disgusting hypocrisy and fails to fully expose the methods employed by the terrorists in Netanyahu’s cabinet.
They might dryly report aspects of the real situation from time to time, but they refuse to explain the big picture. And when it comes to people drawing political conclusions and opposing genocide on the air, their first answer will continue to be the now-memeable: “Do you condemn Hamas?”
This is why the BBC has become one of the most hated pillars of the British establishment. Empty words will achieve nothing for the journalists and civilians of Gaza. We need to bring down the imperialist system that the BBC defends.
