This week, race riots and pogroms erupted in Belfast and Glasgow. People had to be locked into their mosque in Glasgow to escape the riots. Black and brown people are being violently attacked in the street and have been advised to stay at home.
None of this is random.
Who promoted demands to ‘stop the boats’ and fostered the ‘hostile environment’ for decades? The Tories, Labour, and now Reform and Restore. They consciously attempted to blame migrants and asylum seekers for the problems faced by working-class people in Britain – so that they wouldn’t get blamed themselves.
The latest events have been whipped up specifically by Nigel Farage, Rupert Lowe, Tommy Robinson, and Elon Musk. They are directly responsible for fomenting race riots.

Prepare for battle
These riots must be met with action, not just words.
What did people do in Minneapolis in the USA earlier this year, when ICE was going door-to-door kidnapping and deporting people?
As soon as ICE appeared in a local area, working-class residents immediately mobilised en masse to travel there, block the roads, prevent ICE kidnapping people, and physically push them out of the area.
Back here in Britain, when the BNP, EDL, and other far-right groups have tried to march through areas like Whitechapel in London, the local working-class community has coordinated and mobilised in the form of defence groups to protect their streets and homes.
We say: “Don’t rely on the police! Workers’ organisations, community groups, grassroots networks, and others must join forces and form rapid defence groups!’
The situation is serious, and it needs this kind of serious response.
People are being burned out of their homes. They’re scared to walk down the street. They’re sheltering in mosques. We don’t need anti-racist training. We don’t need a Starmer 2.0 to win a by-election. We also don’t need to run and hide.
Physically answering the far right is how we stop them becoming entrenched and confident. We need huge, militant counter-demonstrations wherever they show themselves, called and organised by the left, the trade unions, and local community groups.
Who are the real criminals?
Farage and the others target left-behind towns and cities, where the cost of living is high, jobs are scarce, and the future is bleak.
In reality, there is plenty of wealth and resources in Britain for everyone to have a house, job, and decent standard of living. But it is in the hands of rich bosses and bankers.
Poor people fleeing war are not the ones privatising the NHS or putting up the price of food. That’s the billionaire class. And they can get away with it as long as they distract the rest of us with culture wars.
Racism makes them richer. Nowhere is this clearer than with Elon Musk – the richest man in the world.
Burn their system down!
The real hard core of the far right in Britain is a small minority in society. They are only getting a few hundred people to join in with the race riots they are trying so hard to start.
But that minority is being allowed the space to find an echo. Elon Musk the billionaire, and Nigel Farage the investment banker, have been allowed to paint themselves as anti-establishment.
Who is responsible for that? The so-called ‘left’ and trade union leaders! For years they have stood by while life has got worse for working-class people in this country. They have dithered, prevaricated, avoided serious campaigns and strike action.
Their only response is liberal platitudes about “love”, when what is needed is a channel for class anger; about “hope”, when capitalism only offers despair.
Working-class people instinctively realise there’s something not right about charlatans like Musk and Farage. They’re trying to make themselves rich and powerful by feeding off people’s fears and insecurities.
That makes our tasks very clear. We call on the leaders of the left, the trade unions, and grassroots groups to set up community defence organisations, and to call demonstrations to physically oppose these riots.
And we must participate in these with a clear anti-capitalist, communist programme.
This means basing ourselves on that healthy anti-establishment instinct of workers: exposing Farage, Lowe, Robinson, Musk, and company; and directing the anger in society towards the real source of our problems – the capitalist system and its ruling class.
- Down with all the racists, warmongers, and billionaires!
- Burn their system down! We have a world to win!
