Fans of the Israeli football club Maccabi Tel Aviv – renowned for their hooliganism and racism – have been banned from attending a Europa League game against Aston Villa in Birmingham.
This decision came from the council’s Safety Advisory Group, based on the assessment by the West Midlands Police who said they are incapable of preventing the kind of chaos that we saw in Amsterdam last year.
We knew all this anyway, but it’s nice to finally hear the state admit it. This decision was met with approval by football fans nationwide.
But that’s not the end of the story. ‘Sir’ Keir Starmer took to social media to call the decision “antisemitic” and has promised that the government will do “everything in its power to overturn the ban”!
This is the wrong decision.
We will not tolerate antisemitism on our streets.
The role of the police is to ensure all football fans can enjoy the game, without fear of violence or intimidation.https://t.co/8aBeqE4qbA

And he wasn’t bluffing either. While Britain’s children go hungry, and pensioners fear freezing to death, yesterday parliament decided to set aside time for this “urgent question” – clearly a burning matter for the British public.
Labour’s culture secretary Lisa Nandy has even pledged to help “find the resources” to allow M. Tel Aviv fans to attend the game! Think of this in a few weeks’ time, when Chancellor Rachel Reeves sorrowfully tells us about the “tough decisions” she’s had to make in her budget.

What a sick joke! Are these ladies and gentlemen forgetting last year in Amsterdam, when M. Tel Aviv fans tore down Palestine flags, fought with locals, and chanting “let the IDF win, and fuck the Arabs” and “there are no schools left in Gaza because there are no children left”.
Any sane person would agree with this ban, purely from the interests of public safety. But Starmer has left sanity at the door in has mad war against the Palestine movement.
Crowds supporting Israeli football team Beitar Jerusalem, known for its right-wing base, marched through Bucharest in Romania chanting “let Israel’s military win” and “death to Arabs”.

And after all this – after Starmer and co. moved heaven and earth to please the Zionists – Maccabi Tel Aviv have responded by declining to sell tickets to their own supporters, citing fears of infiltration from Tommy Robinson supporters. As if these crazed Zionist hooligans needed Tommy Robinson’s help when they were running rampage through Amsterdam!
The broader question is, why are Israeli clubs still allowed to compete in European competitions? As an aside, the last time I checked, Israel is not in Europe.
But most importantly, look at the hypocrisy: Russian clubs were banned mere days after Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. But two years of genocide, and the Israelis can still compete.
This is clearly double standards: if your interests align with the European capitalists, you have free rein to do what you want, and face no punishment.
It should come as no surprise to anyone that the European Football Association is corrupt to the core. Their former head Michel Platini took a $2 million ‘disloyal payment’ from then FIFA president Sepp Blatter. These organisations clearly have loyalty to the highest bidder.
Keir Starmer and all the international football bodies have shown their allegiance lies only with big business, and by extension they turn a blind eye to Israel’s atrocities.
They must both be replaced by bodies that have only the interests of football fans, local communities, and the working class at heart.
