Comrades of the Revolutionary Communist Party have joined protests across the country in recent days in solidarity with the mass movement taking place in ‘Azad’ Kashmir. We hear here from demonstrations in London, Birmingham, and Manchester.

Incoming Prime Minister Andy Burnham has pledged to open a ‘Number 10 North’ office, as part of his promise for regional devolution. But neither this insulting gimmick, nor Burnham’s programme of ‘Manchesterism’, can fix Britain’s inequality and decline.

As Andy Burnham prepares to enter Downing Street, the leaders of the ‘left’ and trade unions are sowing illusions in the so-called “opportunity”, “chance”, and “hope” that he promises. Like his predecessors, however, his will be a crisis government from day one.
