The Community Security Trust (CST) has accused Revolutionary Communist Students of antisemitism.
‘Incidents’ include organising student blocs at national Palestine protests, and saying “Wipe out the Epstein class”. It also claims that “communist ideology has long promoted antisemitism.”
This is a smear.
The CST claims to acknowledge that criticism of Israel is not always antisemitic. Yet it classes organising a bloc for Palestine at a demonstration as an antisemitic incident. How many more ‘antisemitic incidents’ are simply cases of people standing with Palestine and opposing Zionism?
In essence, the CST is trying to categorise opposition to Israel’s war on Gaza as a hate crime. The CST admits that ‘incidents’ involving criticism of Israel become more likely whenever Gaza is in the news. That’s because these ‘incidents’ are political expressions of rage against Israeli genocide in Palestine – not hate crimes against the Jewish people.
Secondly, the slogan ‘Wipe out the Epstein class’ is alleged to be antisemitic, because Epstein himself was Jewish.
It’s not Epstein’s race or religion that communists object to – it’s the fact that he was a billionaire paedophile whose network encompassed the world’s billionaires, bankers, politicians, police, judges, diplomats, and royals, all bound together with a common class interest and outlook.
It’s not because he was Jewish that Epstein was a monster – it’s because he was a capitalist. It’s the capitalist class that needs wiping out.
The media presents the CST as a neutral charity protecting British Jews. In fact, it is a political propaganda organisation. The purpose of its reports is to justify attacks on freedom of speech, to proscribe organisations, and to ban marches.
This latest report is a political intervention, and will no doubt be used to further clamp down on the left and the Palestine movement at universities.
Communists will continue to stand unapologetically on the side of Palestine, linking that fight to the broader struggle against imperialism and capitalism.
The CST’s claim that communists have a long track record of antisemitism is slander. We stand for the unity of the working class to liberate itself from the oppressive and exploitative capitalist class. As such, communists have always been at the forefront of struggles against any division of workers along racial, ethnic, national, sectarian, or religious lines.
We have watched a genocide in Gaza play out in real time. We have watched famine, flattened hospitals, and murdered children. We have seen the British government supporting Israel while cutting welfare, wages, and services at home. All of it is being done in our name – and it’s sickening.
Meanwhile, the Epstein files showed the same warmongers protecting each other while they abuse and exploit vulnerable young people in the most horrific ways.
Together, these issues have radicalised millions of people. The fury is deep and burning. The British ruling class, US imperialism, and the Israeli state have become focal points for that anger.
That anger is why we organise for Palestine as communists. It is why we argue that we should wipe out the Epstein class. It is why we want to overthrow this poisonous and diseased capitalist system. And that is why they want to smear us.
Judge us by our enemies. Those who defend Israel and Epstein also attack the communists. That tells you all you need to know.
If anyone is in any doubt about what communists really stand for, or about why the CST and others are so desperate to smear us, come to the next meeting of your local Revolutionary Communist Students group and find out.
