We are told that, contrary to such nasty places as Russia and Iran, Britain is a democracy (do not laugh!), allowing such nice things as a free press, from which you can read from a wide variety of opinions across the whole political spectrum.
You could be forgiven for doubting such rosy statements if you were to look at the coverage of the attacks on Iran by Israel and the United States.
Firstly, you have the ‘respectable’ Times, which opened its pages to the irrelevant Kemi Badenoch and her endless stream of bile against “terror-exporting” Iran and a defence of Israel, the “vibrant democracy”.

And then there is the supposedly ‘neutral’ Independent, parroting without a hint of criticism Starmer’s hypocritical call for Iran to “return to negotiations” – when they had never left the negotiation table!
Reading all this bile, you’d think Britain was under imminent attack by Iran, and that Iran had started this war!
Why, if the British media is so ‘free’ and ‘independent’, is not a peep to be heard in protest against the slavish support of His Majesty’s government to Israel and the US bombing a sovereign country.
Never mind against the gutting of our public services and social safety net, against the increase in ‘defence’ spending (that is, using taxpayers’ money to buy drones, missiles, and other such death machines)?
It is because most, if not all, of the British press is owned and therefore controlled by the ruling class, and so it is in their best interests to publish what the ruling class and their paid-for politicians want us to think.
