Last month, billionaire Jeff Bezos sent an all female crew – including self described astronaut Katy Perry, and Bezos’ fiancé Lauren Sánchez – up to space for a grand total of 11 minutes.
And although Perry claimed that the space trip is “about making space for future women and taking up space and belonging” and “this is all for the benefit of Earth” and how she never felt so “connected to love”, this whole experiment did not land as the rich had hoped.
Back down on Earth, ordinary people took to social media to express their disgust:
“The fact they are calling these women who paid millions to take an 11 minute ride into the air…astronauts is ridiculous. They had more coverage than the astronauts stuck up there this last year.”
“Toxic positivity. So out of touch. Cringe”
“Let’s file this under ‘who gives a fuck about rich people burning their money in front of poor people’”.
It’s not rocket science to figure out why people felt this way. While the super-rich can pay millions to be launched into space for a couple of minutes, the vast majority of the people are struggling to put food on the table and keep a roof over their heads..
As the burden for workers and young people gets heavier each day –with stalling wages, rising bills and rents, attacks on benefits combined with underfunded public services – the rich are just getting richer.
For example, the collective wealth of the UK’s billionaires increased by £35 million per day, reaching a total of £182 billion in 2024.
Growing class anger
There is an ever-growing class anger in society. A report by King’s College London states that wealth inequality risks triggering “societal collapse” within the next decade. Moreover, two-thirds of Britons now think the very rich have too much influence on politics in the UK.

And just the other week, I read an interview of women renting a mouldy flat in London, who said that the landlord treats them like peasants.
So the flood of negative reactions towards this glorified space tourism is just another example of the widespread disgust towards the rich.
Many can see that the whole capitalist system is rigged in favour of the billionaires. The youth in particular are radicalised. Almost half of young people want a revolution.
A layer of these young people are open to communist ideas and are directly turning towards us. These are a few of the responses people have sent us when asked why they want to join the RCP:
“Because I cannot sit idly by during the current onslaught against human rights, and RCP seem to be one of the few groups making sense and discussing basic equality!”
“Because im very poor and i live in a capitalist hellscape”
“I want to join the Revolutionary Communist Party because I believe capitalism is the root cause for a majority of the issues that the British working class is being forced to suffer, though with no hope or alternative being offered.
“I want to learn more about Marxism and through the newspapers and podcast being made by this party I find myself very much in line with your beliefs and values.
“So I think it’s only right that I contribute as much as I can to cause, I really believe you’re offering a hopeful future for the majority of people who live in this country and I think people are open to hearing revolutionary ideas. I want to learn, contribute and have a hand in building this future.“
Prepare for the revolution
These three people who wrote to us are not alone in feeling the way they do about the world and their role in changing it.
They, together with the tens of thousands of workers and students who agree with them, will be the future class fighters in the struggle against capitalism.

The RCP wants to organise and prepare them for that struggle. History shows that our class needs a leadership which can take advantage of a revolutionary situation as it erupts, and is capable of leading the movement to victory.
This is our aim. But we are still too small to play that role. We need to grow our forces in quantity and quality.
At our Second Congress this weekend, we will launch a recruitment campaign with the aim of recruiting 200 new members by August. Throughout the summer, the party will turn outwards to reach the most radicalised layer in society.
You will find us on the streets and at the demos – with our newspaper, The Communist, in our hands – explaining our communist ideas and urging you to get organised!
For this campaign we are producing thousands of copies of a brand new pamphlet Why you should be a communist, written by our very own Fiona Lali.
In this pamphlet, she explains why capitalism is in crisis, what communists fight for, and how we can carry out a revolution against the billionaire class.
So if you are reading this and you want a revolution against the billionaires, then join the Revolutionary Communist Party today! We have a world to win!
Greeting from the Revolutionary Communist International
Sweden
It is with great enthusiasm that we received news about the upcoming Congress of the RCP in Britain. The year has started in an enormously turbulent way on the world scale, and crisis reigns everywhere.
The work of building the forces of communism in Britain has never been more urgent, and your work is followed by thousands of us, all around the world.
Every advancement and milestone for our comrades in Britain is likewise an advance for the whole of the RCI, and we are looking forward to hearing about your upcoming successes.
Forward to 2,000 members in Britain! Long live the RCP! Long live the International!
Revolutionary Communist Party (Sweden)
Switzerland
From Switzerland, we watch the British imperialists commit one stupidity after the other. And with anger we follow the criminal backing and pursuing of anti-working class policies by the Starmer government.
Swiss capitalism is a few steps behind Britain, but surely losing its former strength and stability. And they do not hesitate to put the whole burden on the Swiss workers.
The absence of revolutionary traditions make some defeats for the workers inevitable. The communists of the Swiss RCI section are working to build the revolutionary leadership necessary so the Swiss workers can fight back and put an end to the exploitative system of capitalism once and for all.
Your work in Britain gives us a lot of inspiration and we try to learn as much from you as possible. We wish you a successful Congress, to prepare for 2,000 communists in Britain!
RKP / PCR (Switzerland)
Canada
On behalf of the Revolutionary Communist Party in Canada, we send you warm greetings for this Congress marking the first year of existence of the party. And what a year!
The comrades of the International in Canada have been playing close attention and are learning from the advances you have made.
And with the unending crisis of British and world capitalism, there will be no lack of opportunities to grow our forces. We are at the right place, at the right time.
Forward!
Revolutionary Communist Party (Canada)
Ireland
Please receive our warmest greetings for your Congress.
From Ireland, we look with great admiration at the work carried out by the comrades of the RCP, which for us is a tremendous source of inspiration.
British imperialism, once the unrivalled ‘ruler of the waves’, is now in terminal decline. With you comrades, lies the task of sticking the knife in the heart of this senile titan.
Together with your proletarian brothers and sisters across the Irish Sea, we will fight to overthrow capitalism and imperialism from these islands, establish a Socialist Federation of Europe, and fight for world communism!

Preparing globally
The crisis of capitalism is global. Across the world, our comrades in the Revolutionary Communist International are holding congresses as well, to sharpen their perspectives, and prepare for the battles ahead.
From every corner of the globe, we are hearing the same cry: people want to fight, people want to organise, people want to overthrow capitalism.
Everywhere there is a vacuum of leadership for the working class – and we are determined to build a force that can fill it.
Below, we publish a selection of reports from across the International.
Denmark: “Those who have the youth, have the future”
From 21–23 March, the Revolutionary Communist Party (RKP) in Denmark held its first Congress – a milestone for a party that’s grown rapidly to nearly 300 active members. While the traditional parties dwindle, the RKP is alive and expanding: with branches across Copenhagen, Aarhus, Aalborg, Odense – and even in smaller towns.

This is a party of youth, with an average age in the mid-twenties. As Marie Frederiksen of the Executive Committee declared: “Those who have the youth, have the future.”
The Congress opened with a global perspective from Hamid Alizadeh of the Revolutionary Communist International, who pointed to the deepening crisis of capitalism: “We are living through the most turbulent period in world history.”
Trump, far from being an aberration, is a symptom of the decay of liberalism – exposing its hypocrisy, racism, and warmongering under the banner of ‘democracy’.
Nowhere is this clearer than in the Danish parliament which has united behind militarism and NATO. An entire generation of young people have only experienced a world in decline with increasing levels of war, poverty and misery. Many young people, but also an increasing number of workers, want to fight for a completely new society and are looking for a party like ours. Only the RKP dares to oppose their war machine and the capitalist system it defends.
As Johan Uhrskov-Bendixsen said in his closing speech: “Our goal is to overthrow this society and build a new one… where war no longer ravages humanity.”
The Internationale rang out at the Congress’s end – a clip that has since gone viral with over 70,000 views. The message is clear: revolution is not a dream, but a necessity. We have no time to waste.
Spain: RCO Congress – revolutionary communism advances
From 21–23 March, the Organización Comunista Revolucionaria (OCR), Spanish section of the Revolutionary Communist International (RCI), held its first national Congress – a historic and inspiring milestone.
Nearly 100 delegates and guests gathered from across Spain, with international comrades from Italy, Switzerland, and the RCI leadership also in attendance.
One-third of participants were attending a national meeting for the first time, a testament to the rapid growth and energy within the organisation.

The Congress began with a powerful discussion on world perspectives, led by comrade Jorge Martín of the RCI.
The analysis of deepening imperialist tensions, global unrest, and the rise of class struggle laid bare the urgency of revolutionary organisation.
The report on the RCI’s expansion to over 60 countries—with doubled membership in four years— underlined the importance of the coming world Congress.
Our session on ‘Perspectives for the Spanish state’ addressed the crisis facing the ruling class, exposing the fragile foundations of the current Spanish economic ‘miracle’ which relies heavily on the ‘unproductive’ service sector and the growing wave of social discontent.
A particularly inspiring moment was the enthusiastic participation of young comrades, many speaking at a national level for the first time. Their passion reflects the OCR’s commitment to forging a new generation of Bolsheviks.
The launch of a ‘Campaign for a Revolutionary Programme for Youth’ marked a bold step forward, which will consist of a massive poster campaign around schools, universities and neighbourhoods; the distribution of leaflets with stalls at universities and public squares; and the distribution of the pamphlet that summarises the 10 main points of our programme for young people.
Alongside these plans, will be a renewed focus on Marxist education and theory over the next year. An impressive €6000 collection brought home the importance of Bolshevik discipline, and culminated with the rousing singing of The Internationale.
The Congress embodied the spirit of revolutionary optimism and determination—now begins the task of putting these resolutions into action.
Italy: our First Congress – Revolutionary Communists are on the advance!
From 11 to 13 April, the Revolutionary Communist Party (PCR) of Italy held its First Congress in Cervia – a landmark in the rebirth of revolutionary Marxism in Italy.
Just a year after its founding, 215 comrades, including 120 elected delegates from 23 regions, gathered to discuss how to take the fight against capitalism to the next level.
The Congress took place amid an accelerating world crisis. “Every day the old liberal-democratic capitalist order is falling apart before our eyes” and this has a huge impact on the consciousness of millions of people.

“The pace of events is dizzying,” said Franco Bavila in his opening remarks, citing everything from the genocidal war in Gaza to the explosion of strikes and protests across Europe, and the looming return of Trump. “Italy’s fate is not sealed within its borders. We are caught in the vortex of a worldwide storm.”
This global perspective guided the debate on Italy’s own crisis. Inflation, mass layoffs, attacks on the right to protest – the ruling class has declared war on the working class. But from the uprising in Greece to the protests in Serbia, we see the masses refusing to suffer in silence.
The PCR is intervening in this process, building firm roots in workplaces like Amazon and among militant youth.
Reports from comrades organising in schools and trade unions showed a thirst for revolutionary ideas – backed up by over €2,000 of literature sales and an electric atmosphere that kept political discussions going late into the night.
The Congress ended with raised fists and a defiant Internationale. The message was clear: we are not waiting for better days – we are organising to bring them about.
Austria: First RKP party Congress
From 14–16 March, over 260 delegates and guests gathered in Vienna for the founding Congress of the Revolutionären Kommunistischen Partei (RKP), the Austrian section of the Revolutionary Communist International (RCI).
The Congress was a powerful expression of proletarian internationalism, with comrades attending from across Austria and Europe.
The weekend opened with a stirring lead-off by Niklas Albin Svensson from the RCI’s International Secretariat, outlining the deepening global crisis of capitalism and the resurgence of class struggle – from Greece to Serbia. These upheavals underscore the necessity of building a revolutionary leadership on a world scale.

Emanuel Tomaselli, editor of Der Funke (our party’s newspaper), introduced the session on perspectives for the Austrian revolution, exposing the complete bankruptcy of Austrian capitalism.
Austria is a small export-oriented economy on world trade is becoming a millstone amid the epochal change from ‘globalisation’ to trade wars and protectionism, and the complicity of reformists and so-called ‘left’ parties in managing the crisis on behalf of the ruling class.
The working class is being made to pay – with no alternative from the Social Democratic Party or Communist Party.
On Sunday, the focus turned to party building. Florian Keller introduced the discussion, which featured reports from comrades leading the charge on campuses across Austria, showing the energy and growth of the RKP since its founding last autumn.
The Congress concluded with a vote on key documents and the election of the Central Committee all capped off with a lively discussion on Marxist philosophy Saturday evening, and over €6,000 in revolutionary literature was sold—proof of the thirst for theory.
The RKP’s First Congress was a resounding success: a bold step toward preparing the Austrian working class for the great events to come.
