In this talk at the UCLU Marxist Society, Marie Frederiksen – editor of the Danish Marxist newspaper “Socialistisk Standpunkt” – provides a Marxist analysis of the question of morality, discussing the role of morals and ideas in class society and asking in whose interest the Law and predominant view of morality serves.

We publish here a recording and report of a recent debate held at the London School of Economics between the LSE Marxist Society and the LSE Hayek Society on “Are free markets the solution to the current economic crisis”. Representing the Marxist Society was Adam Booth, editor of www.socialist.net, who provided a Marxist explanation for the current crisis and for capitalist crises in general.

The current anti-government protests in Venezuela have gathered much attention from the international capitalist media, where they have been presented as mass peaceful demonstrations against a corrupt and authoritarian government. We publish here a report and recording of a recent meeting where Ewan Robertson from Venezuelanalysis.com spoke about the origin and real character of the protests.

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Great Miners’ Strike, we publish here a video of John Dunn of the Justice for Mineworkers campaign – speaking at a packed meeting of over 100 people organised by the Calderdale trades council – who talks about his experiences of the tremendous 1984-85 strike whilst providing valuable lessons for the class struggle today.

We publish here a report and recording of a debate – hosted by the Sussex Marxist society – on “The Great Recession of 2008: what happened and what can we do now?” Participating in the debate were Adam Booth – editor of www.socialist.net – and Professor Frank Brouwer from the Department of Economics at the University of Sussex.

Tony Benn, who sadly passed away on 14th March 2014, was a supporter and defender of the Bolivarian revolution from the very beginning. He collaborated with the Hands off Venezuela campaign and spoke on our platform on several occasions. We publish here an audio recording of what he said at the First National Conference of the Hands Off Venezuela Campaign in December 2005.

In this talk from the Marxist Winter School 2013, John Pickard – former editor of the Militant newspaper and author of “Behind the Myths: the Foundations of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam” – discusses the Marxist view of history, based on the dialectical and materialist philosophy of Marxism.

Alan Woods – editor of In Defence of Marxism and author of “Reformism or Revolution” – speaks at the UCLU Marxist society, where he provides a Marxist analysis of World War One and discusses the possibility of world war today.

Rob Sewell – editor of Socialist Appeal and author of “In the Cause of Labour” – looks back at the Great Crash of 1929, which marked the beginning of the Great Depression, and asks what lessons we can learn today in terms of looking at the current crisis of capitalism.
