The recent UCU strike saw significant support from students. Students recognised that deteriorating working conditions directly affect them. In Leeds, the Marxist society mobilised for every day of the strike, fighting against the marketisation of higher education.
With over a million young people recently registered to vote, the youth vote is pivotal for Labour. Across the country there are reports of young voters being denied a vote due to “registration errors.” The establishment is pulling out all the stops.
This week has seen higher education workers at around 60 institutions take strike action in a fight over pensions, pay, casualisation, and a raft of other demands. Marxist students across the country have been joining the picket lines in solidarity.

Labour’s NEC recently voted to get rid of Labour Students. The organisation has shown disdain for democracy, rigging elections to ensure right-wingers remain in control. We need a Labour Students organisation that will fight for socialist policies.
Young Labour members in London met last Saturday for a day of political discussion and debate. Amongst the policies voted on, there was overwhelming support for a motion to restore Clause 4. This shows the thirst for socialist ideas.
