The Russian Revolution was the greatest event in human history. For the first time the working class conquered state power and at least began the task of the socialist transfomation of society.
The Russian revolution acted as a beacon to the workers of the world, resulting in a wave of revolutionary uprisings internationally that lasted well into the 1920s and created the mass communist parties that came together in March 1919 to form the Communist (3rd) International.
Listen here to this special meeting of the ULU Marxist Society where Fred Weston, editor of the website ‘In Defence of Marxism’ (marxist.com), speaks on the Russian Revolution and the founding of the Comintern; and subsequently their eventual demise and abandonment at the hands of the Stalinist bureaucracy.
