Far-right rioting has spread across the country, with fascist gangs launching pogroms against Muslim and Asian communities. Appeals for ‘calm’ will not suffice. To eradicate this scourge, organised workers and youth must take militant mass action.
The menace of the far right has reared its ugly head in the past week, with more violence on the cards in the coming days. This should be a wake-up call to the ranks of the labour movement. Workers and youth must mobilise to smash the far right.
Earlier this week, rioting broke out in Merseyside, after far-right thugs hijacked a tragic stabbing to whip up Islamophobic hatred. The entire establishment is to blame. The movement must mobilise to drive this reactionary menace off our streets.
This year’s Edinburgh Fringe, the renowned annual arts festival, starts tomorrow, lasting from 2-26 August. The popular event is set to be plagued by problems, however, as workers and residents pay the price for the commercialisation of culture.
