In the early hours of 11 October, the community of Darnall in Sheffield was met with a bizarre sight: a group of around 100 far-right protesters silently marching down the main road.
This march was organised by Patriot Platform – the organisation headed by Tommy Robinson’s ex-bodyguard Danny Thomas – to end outside the offices of a local bus company believed to have transported migrants.
Like the recent protests seen in Dover and Portsmouth, protesters were wearing all-black clothes, with some wearing face coverings and others painting their faces black.
However, in Sheffield there was no chanting, just a pathetic banner reading “Driving up rape and murder rates in the UK” – evidently, a statement so baseless they couldn’t even present this vile slogan with their full chests.

The ‘patriots’ notably have no branch in Sheffield, and gained their small crowd that day from bussing in their crooks from around the country.
Local residents’ recordings of the Patriot Platform’s protest show that there were some three police officers leisurely walking behind the march, with a single van even further behind.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson reported they were aware of protesters wearing face coverings and of the vandalism they committed once they reached the bus company’s building. But no one was confronted by the police in the slightest.

How ironic that it’s the right wing demagogues who cry about ‘two-tier’ policing!
The British state sees our revolutionary ideas, and not the far-right’s hate marches, as the real danger to crush – because what we stand for threatens their system, which requires racism and division to thrive.
The fact is, the police aren’t capable of nor interested in protecting Darnall from these thugs. Only the working class themselves can do this, as we saw when black and Asian youth organised self-defence groups against racist rioters in 2024.
It’s no wonder this quiet march was organised before most people in this community even woke up: a serious confrontation with Darnall’s workers and youth would’ve swiftly sent these ‘patriots’ packing!
