When not reporting on Brexit, the attention of the media has been focussed almost exclusively on Labour’s “institutional anti-semitism”. But it is the Tories who have a real racism problem.
Due to the hysterical anti-semitism smear campaign that has been whipped up by the Blairites and the capitalist press, the Labour Party has been called before the Equality and Human Rights Commission. The equalities watchdog – founded by Labour in 2006 – is now investigating whether the party has “unlawfully discriminated against people because of their ethnicity and religious beliefs”.
But whilst Labour is pursued on trumped-up charges of “institutional anti-semitism”, open racism in the Tory Party continues unheeded and unabated.
If ever there was a party guilty of “institutional” racism it is the Tories. The Conservatives are riddled with racists, bigots and xenophobes from top to bottom. Their elected representatives endlessly spout racists remarks without any shame or repercussions. And their whole political programme is intrinsically racist, attacking ethnic minorities and migrants in order to distract and divide workers from the real enemy: the bosses and bankers – the capitalist class whose interests the Tories exist to protect.
From Theresa May’s promise to create a “hostile environment”, to the Windrush scandal, to Tory MPs shameful heckling of Diane Abbott in Parliament as she spoke about the death of Shamima Begum’s baby in a refugee camp: it is clear that the Conservative Party is rotten with racism to its very core.
This, of course, is no recent phenomena. As the historic defenders of British imperialism, with its barbaric past of colonial exploitation and oppression, the Tory Party has always been imbued with racism. One need only recall Enoch Powell’s “Rivers of Blood” speech to see where modern-day bigoted Tory figures such as Boris Johnson get their inspiration from.
Numerous allegations – backed up by a mass of evidence – have come to light in recent months regarding the endemic racism within the Tories. Unsurprisingly, however, the establishment and their media mouthpieces have chosen to concentrate instead on the storm-in-a-tea-cup that is the Labour Party’s anti-semitism “problem”.
The Conservatives have even been accused of rampant racism from those within their own ranks. The party’s former chair, Baroness Warsi recently asserted that Theresa May was “burying her head in the sand” in relation to a proliferation of Islamophobia within the Tories. Current party chairman, Brandon Lewis, meanwhile, has been condemned for “selectively responding” to allegations of racism. The Muslim Council of Britain have echoed these sentiments, calling for an independent inquiry, but to no avail.
The Tory Party has belatedly said it is dealing with the issue, suspending 14 party members for Islamophobic Facebook posts. But new cases of racism within the Tory rank and file are emerging every day. And no wonder: these party members are only taking their lead from the tops of the Tory Party and the gutter press that backs them.
