Fighting fund – summer offensive!
Well, it appears that New Labour’s big business donors have suddenly got cold feet over handing more cash over to the party. Is it because they think things are starting to look bad electorally? Is it because they think the hoped-for knighthoods might not be so forthcoming after all? Who can say?
One thing is clear. We rely solely on the donations of ordinary people who have an interest in fighting for a better society. Our fighting fund is exactly that – a fund to enable us to keep up the fight for Marxist ideas inside the Labour and trade union movement. We have no big business backers and do not want any either. The summer months are always a tricky period for us as regards fundraising, not least because we have to compete with the important special appeal launched each year at this time by the In Defence Of Marxism website for donations to support the struggle internationally. But I am confident that, if every reader looks to making a donation, we can keep well on course to hit our target.
Donations can be made online by going to www.wellred.marxist.com. You can also go into any branch of Abbey and pay over the counter to us via account K2018479SOC in the name of SASC. Donations can also be made by post (again make cheques payable to SASC) by sending them to us at PO Box 50525, London, E14 6WG. So why not make an investment in socialism and send us what you can without delay – every bit helps.
