The launch of The Communist and plans for the launch of the Revolutionary Communist Party in May have been met with great enthusiasm from our supporters.
The misnamed Communist Party of Britain (CPB) has clearly been stung by our successes, however, especially that of our ‘are you a communist?’ campaign.
In their ‘Unity’ bulletin from January this year, the CPB complain about us. They conclude:
“The problem this project faces lies in the inquisitive nature of youth who, when attracted by the revolutionary character of living communist politics, find instead they are dealing with a political tradition that has traded on anti-communism and hostility to actual existing socialism for decades.”
For our part, we welcome the “inquisitive nature of youth” who are attracted to genuine communism. Such young people will not be fooled by falsehoods, but will be keen to learn about our history and discover the truth for themselves.
It is a complete lie that we are – or have ever – been ‘anti-communist’. We have always based ourselves on Lenin, Bolshevism, and the defence of the 1917 October Revolution.
What is true is that we have never shied away from exposing and criticising the crimes of Stalinism.
Hammer and sickle
We are founding a real revolutionary communist party, as opposed to those who are sailing under a false flag.
The ‘Unity’ article has the cheek to criticise our use of the hammer and sickle, which they describe as a “knock off”.
But the CPB has itself abandoned this revolutionary symbol, choosing instead an image of a white dove with a hammer protruding from its backside. This aptly sums up their pacifist and reformist politics.
Genuine communism
As far as “political tradition” is concerned, we are prepared to rise to the challenge. We certainly have nothing to hide.
In The Communist, therefore, we will publish regular material on the real history of our movement, and explain the crimes of Stalinism. We will show who are the actual communists, and who are the fakers and charlatans.
We do this not to score points, but to educate a new generation in the ideas and traditions of genuine communism.
This is essential in order to prepare for the challenges that lie ahead – for the revolutionary events on the horizon in Britain and internationally.
Watch this space for future articles in this new series, answering the myths about communism, and explaining the revolutionary ideas and heritage that we defend. Or send us your questions, and we’ll do our best to respond in the pages of The Communist.
