Our campaign to paint Scotland red is well underway.
Aiming to establish cells of the Revolutionary Communist Party (RCP) all over Scotland, comrades from Edinburgh and Glasgow have visited new cities and towns in recent weeks, looking for communists who want to get organised and help us build.
Our tour has included Perth, Dunfermline, Dundee, and more. See below for reports of these visits.
All of this activity is in preparation for our Scottish conference this coming Saturday, 27 July, where delegations will discuss the perspectives for class struggle, and declare their intentions to grow the RCP in Scotland.
See below for a full timetable of the conference agenda. And click here to register your place.
So if you are a communist in Scotland, no matter where you are: join your party, and help us paint Scotland red!

Timetable
12:00-14:30 – Crisis, class struggle, and revolution
The world is in a state of complete economic and social crisis, with wars and uprisings breaking out. This is a result of the decaying capitalist-imperialist system and the complete bankruptcy of the ruling class.
We must understand this period of history we are passing through, its impact on the consciousness of the working class, and prepare for the revolutionary convulsions that will shake the globe.
15:30-17:30 – Lessons of Bolshevism: Building the RCP
The RCP is a Bolshevik party, inspired by the ideas and example of Vladimir Lenin and Leon Trotsky. The history of the communist movement is rich in lessons for us.
In this session, we will discuss these experiences and theoretical conclusions, alongside reports of how we can build the party of proletarian revolution today.
17:30-18:30 – Concluding remarks
To end the day, we will break out into smaller groups to discuss plans for establishing new branches of the party across Scotland, and summarise the tasks ahead.

Perth
Comrades were out in full force in Perth recently. After meeting with prospective members, we set to work with troops going to poster the town centre, local hospital, and college.
Simultaneously, a stall was set up where comrades chatted to the locals about issues they care about, spreading our revolutionary optimism and receiving donations.
Most importantly, we had in-depth political discussions on topics ranging from workers’ control, Stalinism, internationalism, and the legacy of Lenin and Trotsky.
Only a day after our visit, a school student signed up, expressing his anger at capitalism and an enthusiasm to organise to overthrow it. A new cell in Perth is now in the works!

Dunfermline
Our next stop was Dunfermline, where despite the rainy day, comrades set up on the high street and began selling The Communist.
The sales were of quality more than quantity, with three strong sales accompanied by long conversations on politics and Marxist theory.
As comrades began plastering the town centre with posters, we were approached by potential recruits very quickly!

Dundee
The final step in the campaign before the conference was in Dundee.
Comrades from Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Perth set up in the main centre, where we enjoyed the good-spirited support of the local buskers and interest from a variety of passers-by.
We took time to put up posters around the city centre and distribute some flyers in the surrounding neighbourhoods.
We’re confident that before long there will be an RCP cell established in Dundee!
