The second edition of the Marxist International Review is now available.
The present issue deals exclusively with the issue of the Black struggle in the United States and the question of Self-determination. This issue came to the fore during the 1960s with the Civil Rights movement and the emergence of radical Black nationalism.
The main part of the Review is taken up with a document produced by the American Workers International League which was ratified by its national congress in 2008. It encompasses the rich experience of Marxism and the national question which illuminates the issues around Black self-determination that were raised in the radical movement of the United States.
We believe this deserves a wider audience and serves to illustrate the Marxist method applied to the Black question. The fact that America has elected a Black President solves nothing for the oppressed Black population or the working class generally. Despite all the illusions generated in Obama, his policies are dictated by the interests of American imperialism.
However, his election represented a collossal movement for change within the United States. In the mass struggles that are beginning to unfold, Black workers, alongside their White and Latino brothers and sisters, will unite to challenge the capitalist system.

It is to be hoped that each issue of the MIR will serve as a useful basis for discussion groups and education meetings and again advice on this will be made available online.
