Coming up on 3 October, Wellred Books will be hosting its first Anti-Capitalist Book Fair at University College London!
Come to Jeffery Hall from 10am-4pm to dive into a wide-range of anti-capitalist material from books to pamphlets to zines from ten different organisations.
We will have a wide range of stalls, and also guest speakers that bring these ideas to life.

Featured stalls will include Stuff Like That, a bespoke creator of handmade books and pamphlets. Meaning that every single book produced is unique! There will also be a number of Zines on offer covering topics from Palestine to radical poetry.
Guest speaker Fiona Lali will be discussing what revolutionary literature made her a revolutionary communist at 3pm in the main hall.
Why we are hosting
Young people are more and more skeptical of the capitalist system that for them has only given them austerity, war and a lack of faith in the future.
People are turning towards ideas that reject this system. This is why we are hosting the Anti-Capitalist Book Fair, so people can explore these ideas for themselves and see that another world is possible.
At the Wellred stall, there will be the key texts that we believe are the foundation for anyone to understand what is going on in the world and why we fight for Communism. Texts from Marx, Engels, Lenin and Trotsky, the height of the Marxist thought.
We will also be bringing a new publication, The Hungarian Tragedy by Peter Fryer.
The 70th anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution is in October. This important text has not been published in decades, and will be a valuable asset to anyone wanting to understand what a genuine workers revolution looks like, and the legacies that we should defend.
How can you get involved?
If you’re interested in joining a reading group to discuss these ideas further, then you can meet your local communists and revolutionary communist student societies across central London at the bookfair! They will be hosting stalls which you can join and find out more.
They will also be hosting reading groups on a range of questions like What do communists stand for? Or Where do profits come from? You can sign up your interest with the reading groups on the day!
If you are someone that is a revolutionary, a radical or even someone that just wants to explore what other ideas are out there, then you should come down to the Anti-Capitalist Book Fair!
