The crisis of capitalism has led to an outright onslaught against our class.
At home, we are facing deep cuts to our basic public services, schools and hospitals literally crumbling to pieces, and attacks on our pay and working conditions.
Across the world, our ruling class is shovelling billions into imperialist wars, and giving full political and financial backing to Netanyahu’s genocidal war on Gaza.
And that’s not to mention the criminal damage being inflicted upon our environment, which threatens millions with famine, drought, and dislocation. It is no exaggeration to say that capitalism kills.
Class battles ahead
The Palestine movement is galvanising all of the anger and the sense of injustice against this entire system.
The global encampment movement is echoing the mighty class struggles of previous generations, like the revolutionary movement of May 1968 in France. There, student protestors faced police brutality, and the French working class launched a powerful general strike which paralysed the government.
Not every generation gets the opportunity to live through revolutionary times. We are such a generation. We will have the chance to overthrow this barbaric system.
We are only at the beginning of a period of similar class battles. And the Revolutionary Communist Party (RCP) is only at the beginning of its development too.
Fighting leadership
However, despite our modest numbers and our limited resources, the RCP is proud to be playing a key role in the encampment movement here in Britain, as well as slam-dunking Suella Braverman on live TV!
But this kind of publicity is just a means to an end. What is needed is a mass, militant movement, with a fighting leadership.
We are very serious about our task. And we need your help!
The capitalists understand very well that they need their own political parties and their own media, so that they can defend their interests, and keep making their profits.
We need to take our tasks even more seriously. As revolutionary workers and youth, we must build our own political party with roots on the ground, and an independent workers’ media that can fight the establishment’s lies.
Increasing needs
We have put a call out for a mass campaign against the Tories on campuses all around the country. This has received around 300,000 likes and responses. But in order to make this a success, we need funds!
We need to hold mass meetings, and that requires booking mass meeting rooms in every major city.
We need to increase our news circulation. Our newspaper, The Communist, needs to go from fortnightly to weekly as soon as possible.
We need more digital media, videos, and podcasts, to keep the movement connected and informed.
We need more activists, subscribers, and supporters. And we need more full-time revolutionary staff too to coordinate all this work.
For example, in the last week alone, we’ve been attacked by a leading Tory minister on live TV. We’ve also made numerous appearances on the TV and radio.
It’s revealed an urgent need for us to take on a dedicated press officer, to make the most of this publicity, and ensure our ideas reach as wide an audience as possible.
And as we recruit more and more communists, we urgently need to strengthen our apparatus in order to assist with the development and education of new branches across the country.
All of this will cost us tens of thousands of pounds. But there are tens of thousands of revolutionary communists out there, so of course we can do this!
