We are frequently told that Marxism is no longer applicable as a theory in modern society because the working class – apparently – no longer exists. Supposedly “we are all middle class now”, thanks to rising wealth, automation, and deindustrialisation. Jack Halinski-Fitzpatrick explains how this is not the case.
