The new and completed edition of Stalin, the critical biography Trotsky was working on at the time of his death, was officially launched last Saturday at the Museo Casa de León Trotsky (Leon Trotsky House Museum) in Mexico City by the IMT with presentations by Esteban Volkov, Trotsky’s grandson, and Alan Woods, the editor of the new edition of the book.
In the final week of July, nearly 300 delegates and visitors from around 30 different countries attended the 2016 World Congress of the International Marxist Tendency. Meeting in the midst of huge mass movements, class struggles, and revolutionary developments across the world, this year’s congress was undoubtedly the most exciting and successful yet.
We aim to raise £9,000 over the next two months to go towards the work of building the forces of Marxism internationally and to pay for comrades from Pakistan and elsewhere to be able to attend the World Congress of the International Marxist Tendency this summer. Over the weekend of 8-10th April, over 120 Socialist Appeal supporters and sellers met in London to discuss the turbulent economic and political situation developing in Britain – and internationally – and to take stock of the tasks facing Marxists in the period ahead. The mood at the conference, hosted by the UCLU and SOAS Marxist societies, was one of brimming optimism and enthusiasm about the prospects for building the forces of Marxism.
The February issue of the paper is our 250th edition since we launched the Socialist Appeal as a magazine, more than 23 years ago. There has never been a more important time than now to fight for the revolutionary ideas of Marxism. Last week saw the 2015 World School of the International Marxist Tendency, with around 270 visitors attending the Italian-hosted event from over 30 different countries, coming from as far and wide as Canada, Venezuela, South Africa, Morocco, and Pakistan. The school was testament to the enthusiasm and strength of ideas within the IMT.
An extremely successful academic year for the Marxist societies was brought to a close with a weekend of inspiring discussions at REVOLUTION 2015, organised by Socialist Appeal and hosted by the UCLU Marxist society between 26-28th June. Over 80 students and youth participated over the weekend, contributing enthusiastically in the debates and discussions about the revolutionary ideas of Marxism.
