From the blood-soaked fields of Ukraine to the rubble and starvation of Gaza, western imperialism is continuing its daily sacrifices of men, women, and children on the altar of profit.
Keir Starmer is a full-throated cheerleader for this imperialist slaughter. Money, weapons, and diplomatic support have all been happily granted by the Prime Minister to help Netanyahu, Zelensky, and all the merry men of the imperialist west.
But at the same time, Starmer says there’s no money left in Britain. Pensioners will have to go cold, he says. Children will have to go hungry. Schools will continue to crumble. Universities will go bankrupt. NHS waiting lists will continue to grow.
But he’s finding £3 billion every year to send to Ukraine, to continue the slaughter. He’s finding tens of billions to increase defence spending to 2.5 percent of GDP. He’s found hundreds of billions to renew Britain’s nuclear weapons.
This is a government of war. They want bombs instead of books, ammunition instead of art, warfare instead of healthcare, and profits over people.
If this is all they have to offer, then all we can do is overthrow them.
Anti-imperialism
A few months ago, universities around the world were rocked by pro-Palestine encampments. It’s time to pick up where we left off, and this time take it much further.
Branches of the Revolutionary Communist Party all over Britain are preparing to launch an anti-imperialist campaign across schools, campuses, workplaces, and neighbourhoods this autumn.
In Edinburgh, where schools were back in session earlier than elsewhere, our stalls have been flooded with pro-Palestine students wanting to find out more and get organised.
Meanwhile in Cambridge, where we have RCP members in a number of schools and colleges, we’re going to gather school students from across the city to make plans for anti-imperialist campaigning over the next few months.
In Middlesbrough, regular stalls outside colleges will be the basis for an anti-imperialist reading group in the town. This will be a space for organising students who want to take action to fight capitalism and imperialism.
Co-ordinated strategy
All over the country, university students are preparing to take action. In south London there’s talk at some universities of restarting the encampments. In other places there’s talk of rent strikes to force universities to divest from the arms industry and the western imperialist war machine.
In Kingston, for example, the RCP locally is preparing a pamphlet exposing the links between the university and the defence industry, a relationship which seems to take precedence over providing decent accommodation for students and acceptable working conditions for staff.
At UCL the ‘Centre for Ethics’ is funded by weapons company BAE Systems – an eye-watering hypocrisy which the comrades are preparing to campaign on.
Many universities and student unions invite military recruiters onto campus to set up stalls and sign up young people to the western war machine. In a number of places comrades are preparing to fight against this vile practice.
Palestine rallies are already being prepared on a number of campuses in Scotland, Birmingham, and London.
RCP members who work in healthcare, teaching, and other public sector jobs are preparing to expose the scale of cuts to their sectors while the defence budget gets fatter and fatter. There’s anger beneath the surface in many workplaces and we intend to bring it to the surface.
Above all, the RCP is going to be linking up these campaigning initiatives in schools, universities, and workplaces. What’s needed is a coordinated strategy to fight imperialism and fight capitalism.
A world to win
It was an ancient military strategist, Sun Tzu, who once said that you must know your enemy in order to win. That’s why the Revolutionary Communist Party has been studying imperialism closely over the summer and will continue to do so as part of this campaign.
In Manchester there’s going to be an anti-imperialist day school this autumn. There will be similar discussions in every RCP branch around the country.
We’re building towards the Revolution Festival in London on 15-17 November. This will be a national anti-imperialist conference, as well as a school of communism, which will bring together activists from all over the country to share ideas on a wide range of anti-imperialist, anti-capitalist topics.

Ours is a campaign for books not bombs, for healthcare not warfare, and for art not ammunition.
We’re going to fight militarism, imperialism, and their root cause: the capitalist system which puts profits above lives. We can sweep all of that into the dustbin of history. We have a world to win!
