The most astonishing piece of news to have been greeted with
relative apathy by the bourgeois press this week has to be the rumour that Tony
Blair could be serving as a Middle East envoy. The very idea of this is as
crass and insensitive as…. knighting a completely mediocre author, famous only
for implying Islam is evil, or indeed a US president hiding his watch when on a
tour of Albania because he thinks they are all thieves.
Clearly there is a prevalent sentiment amongst the ruling
classes of Britain and America that the working men and women of the Middle
East are a bunch of intellectually prostrate orang-utans, who, when not
obediently pumping oil under rifle sight, sit around absorbed by
psychologically honed advertising, occasionally feeling vague emotions.
And, whilst most are scratching their heads, not because
Blair isn’t to be joining the extending dole-queues next week, but because he
isn’t being tried for genocide, the western bourgeoisie clearly feel he is
emblematic of their ongoing ‘policies’ in the Middle East. This clearly shows
how completely detached from reality the ruling class have become.
What can we expect next? Is Maggie Thatcher (whilst she
still has the breath left in her to waddle) going to be touring the numberless
destroyed mining communities of Wales in an open top limousine? Or maybe
Monsanto has a plan to feed the world?
At a time when the self-proclaimed legitimacy of the
international bourgeoisie is being shaken to its very foundations by the
ceaseless acts of abhorrent violence and flagrant disregard for the opinions of
those condemned to a life of wage slavery (if we’re lucky), one can only muse
at their utter idiocy.
But maybe it isn’t such a bad thing! Perhaps Blair (minus
the flak jacket) should tour the streets of Baghdad in a top hat proclaiming
‘New Iraq…. business friendly and forward-looking’. I would pay 24-hour viewing
for that show. Blair should go to Iraq, our troops pulled out of
this illegal mess and the Iraqi people left to make their
own choices free of the violence created by an occupation force.
To add to this insanity is the news also that Brown plans to
resurrect the politically dead by giving Ashdown a top post in his clowns
cabinet. Well Caligula made his horse a member of the senate! Though I would
imagine the horse more able and charismatic than Ashdown, and Caligula more in
touch with reality than Brown.
The politicians should be sent to Iraq, since it is they who
have a vested interest in the country, but the troops shouldn’t be made to do
the bidding of lunatic politicians and smiling oilmen. The only answer for the
Middle East is a socialist federation ‘for the people by the people’, not a
choice between medieval clericalism and capitalist exploitation and barbarity.
Pull the troops out now and relocate the money spent
on murdering Iraqi’s to socialist programmes for and by the working class of
Britain, in solidarity with the workers of Iraq and the Middle East. End this era of utterly corrupt decaying bourgeois politics fixated
only on saving their own skins, and lets bring an era where people of all nations control
their own destinies free from a world slipping into the abyss of violence and
lunacy.
